Riverfront Precinct

• The Station Masters House built in 1878 housed the first Station master Mr Thomas (Tom) Tapp, who commenced his duties on October 28, 1878. The building comprised of a ladies waiting room, booking office and a residence of two bedrooms, kitchen and dining. Now this building is the Morgan Visitor Information Outlet and has a railway set up and slide show of historic photos, the brochure room that has all the information a Visitor will need, and the office where friendly staff can assist with enquiries.
• The Old Wharf Craft Shop – previously the Ticket Office.  This building had many passengers come through in its hay day  to catch the train from Morgan to Adelaide. There were 6 trains per day that would leave Morgan. The “Pioneer” made its first run into Morgan on April 17^th 1878 and the last train to depart was “Duchess of Gloucester” in November 1969. This railway line was at one point the busiest in the state. There are still remnants of the old railway line near the Morgan Wharf.  This building now operates as a shop that sells souvenirs and locally made produce, ranging from home made jams and chutney to soaps, candles and craft. The Shop is currently open Tuesdays – Sunday 10am – 3pm (Subject to volunteer availability).

• Up on the hill joining the two hotels , Post Office, Carmines Antiques, and Take away shop is the Morgan Landseer Museum on Railway Tce.  With its high ceilings and charm of years gone by this building that was once a warehouse loading cargo frequently onto trains and trucks, transporting goods to and from Morgan. A. H Landseer was not only the largest merchant in Morgan , but the largest trading and shipping company on the Murray.  This building now holds many years of history , and displays the spectacular “Windows In Time” Mural. This mural displays years and years of Morgans vibrant history within 5 unique panels. This Mural took 6 years to complete by 3 very talented Morgan Ladies Diana Angel, Rose Craig and Kerry Thompson.
